How to Make White Spaghetti Sauce

The thing with spaghetti is, we do eat it quite often. We don’t just eat spaghetti during occasions but also on ordinary days as a meal or snack. Spaghetti is usually cooked in a traditional red sauce. Now, to add a little variation to the most well loved food in the world, it’s time we learn how to make white spaghetti sauce.

Spaghetti in white sauce is a great alternative if you have grown tired of the sour taste of tomatoes commonly used as base for the traditional spaghetti. Although tomatoes provide excellent health benefits with the presence of lycopene, white spaghetti sauce on the other hand uses butter, milk and flour which in their own ways also provide health benefits for the body. So this is how to make white spaghetti sauce good for 2-3 servings.

You will need:

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 300ml milk (low-fat or fresh milk)
  • 1 tbsp plain flour
  • 4-5 tbsp thick cream (optional)
  • 2 tsp of chicken granules (more or less, depending on your taste)
  • cheddar cheese (or whatever cheese available)

How to make white spaghetti sauce:

  1. In a sauce pan, melt butter over low heat.
  2. Add flour little by little while stirring to make a paste.
  3. Add the chicken granules.
  4. Slowly add in half of the milk and continue stirring.
  5. When it thickens, add the rest of the milk and let it simmer over low heat for another minute.
  6. Add the thick cream and the cheddar cheese and cook until the cheese melts.
  7. Let it simmer until smooth and thick.

It’s now ready and you can just pour on top of the spaghetti noodles cooked according to package directions. You may garnish also with crisp bacon, chopped parsley and Parmesan cheese.
