How to Replace a Broken Faucet

The following are the steps on how to replace a broken faucet:

1. First thing to remember on how to replace a broken faucet is to turn off the water to your faucet. Somewhere underneath the sink there is a handle for shutting down the water.
2. Tighten the handle by turning it clockwise or to your right to turn the water off.
3. To prevent any screw or washer from going down the drain, you must plug up the sink drain. This is easy if the sink has a built-in mechanism for plugging. If not, you can use a rag to plug up the sink drain.
4. Using a screwdriver, remove the faucet handle by taking out the screw that holds the handle on. Some screws of faucet handles are hidden by a plastic or a metal cap. You need to force open the cap off first to get to the screws.
5. After removing the handle, you get the old washer found within and replace it with a new one.
6. Return the faucet handle by screwing it up. When tightening the handle, it should only be “hand tight” which means you need not exert extra effort while tightening.
7. Turn on the water back and check.

Just follow these simple “how to replace a broken faucet” steps and save a lot on your plumbing bills.
